Panico wins special election
6th District seat staying Republican
BY GRANT PARPAN | EDITORKeith Romaine's best friend will soon be sworn in to fill the deceased Councilman's Town Board seat. Dan Panico secured 59 percent of the vote in Tuesday's special election, according to preliminary results from the Suffolk County Board of Elections.
Mr. Panico, who ran on the Republican and Conservative lines, received 3,867 votes to 2,686 for Democrat Doug Dittko. Both candidates are Manorville residents who currently serve on the Town's Planning Board. Less than 14 percent of district voters showed up at the polls for Tuesday's special election.
